It occurs to me that Twitter lends itself best to those with smart phones. Dumb phones need not apply. I don't see how anyone could properly twit(?) without owning a smart phone or a tablet. This class would be brutal if one had to start a desktop everytime to follow tweets or post. Twitter seems to rely on stream of conscious posts and that lends itself best to easy access- hence, the smart phone exclusivity.
I remember when Twitter first came out, a lot of people would tweet via text message -- and also have their followers' tweets forwarded to their "dumbphones." (Heck, a lot of people may still do this.) I never used that feature because I was afraid of racking up a huge bill for all those extra texts! Using Twitter via a smartphone or tablet app is so much easier.
ReplyDeleteJudith,
ReplyDeleteI'm new to Twitter, too. So far, it doesn't come second nature to me - checking tweets & posting but we'll see. I enjoying learning new things (technology included) but don't tend to have an "on the fly" personality. Here's to a speedy month full of postings & discussions!

Renee, it's you and me both. (As seen by my almost accidentally deleting your post) It's fun, but a little intimidating.
DeleteI have my personal Twitter account set up on my phone. I decided to create a new Twitter for this class and just use it on the web. I quickly got tired of that and just added my MLIS7505 twitter to my phone. I find it so much easier to use on the phone than on the web. Just seems like it takes less time!
ReplyDeleteValarie, I ended up doing the same thing. Posthaste. I have everything on my phone- even my blog I control and write using my phone. It makes It so much easier. Waiting in line? Write a blog! At lunch? Check my twitter! Honestly, it frees up much of my time for the bigger homework assignments.
